Desert Rose: A Creative Women’s Retreat

FOR WRITERS + MOTHERS + MYSTICS

(BY PERSONAL INVITATION)

JOshua tree, ca | january 23 - 27, 2025

S P A C I O U S N E S S

Creation begins with space.

No matter what you’re creating, birthing, or stewarding in your life, art, or business, spaciousness is key.

It creates the conditions for the inner feminine to open, bloom, and express its beauty, wisdom, and radiance.

With spaciousness, we enter a state of receptivity — our bodies replenish, our nervous systems relax, and our inner knowing guides us.

Our creative power is replenished through our direct connection with the Divine.

As we soften into stillness and deepen our listening, we receive clarity from our higher mind that exists beyond space and time.

This is the intention of our retreat.

C R E A T I V I T Y

This is not your typical “writing retreat.” It is not about productivity, word count, or assignments. There are no expectations or guidelines for your creative expression — you can use your time however you choose.

This is a ceremonial space to nurture the creative feminine and allow the wisdom of our bodies, hearts, and souls to guide our actions, creations, and expressions.

Our retreat itinerary will be s p a c i o u s.

Outside of our group activities, meals, and ceremonial practices, there will be space for unstructured, uninterrupted writing time, reflection, and contemplation.

If you’re developing a specific project or story during our time together, I'll be available to offer creative direction and editorial feedback. I’ll also be available for 1 : 1 healing sessions and intuitive guidance during our creative time.

G A T H E R I N G

This is a curated group of magical, mystical women who are inspired creators with a heart for service.

Introduction + Intention Setting:

Our group will meet virtually before the retreat (mid-January) for an Introduction + Intention-Setting call via Zoom. During this gathering, each woman will receive a symbolic image that can be a tool for deeper contemplation, a creative writing prompt, an invitation from the imaginal realm, or a theme to explore during the retreat.

Closing Ceremony + Integration:

Our group will meet virtually after the retreat (late February) for a Closing Ceremony + Integration call. During this gathering, each woman will have space to share a creative expression or personal reflection, receive a blessing, and share a vision with the group that will be empowered through our co-creative intention.

Creative expression, whether that means writing,
dancing, bird-watching, or cooking, can give a
person almost everything that she has been
searching for: enlivenment, peace, meaning, and the
incalculable wealth of time spent quietly in beauty.
— Anne Lamott

DAILY CREATIVE RITUALS

Each day, we’ll come together to open sacred space through tea, cacao, and ‘awa (Hawaiian kava) ceremonies.

We’ll gather in stillness, nourish our bodies, and open our hearts to listen before we move into our daily creative practice — unstructured, uninterrupted space to write, express, create, and vision.

“Everything comes to us that belongs to us if we create the capacity to receive it.”
— Rabindranath Tagore

DESERT MAGIC

Winter is a season of retreat.

Nature slows its tempo, returns to stillness, and invites us into solitude, silence, and creative rest.

Our group was called to gather in the sacred land of Joshua Tree.

We’ll come together in reverence, make offerings to honor the stewards and guardians of this ancient land, and open to receive the creative medicine of this powerful vortex.

The expansive horizon and elemental power of the desert inspires visionary clarity. The veil between worlds is thin here, and there’s a deep connection to the unseen, imaginal realm.

FOR THE ARTIST AT THE START OF DAY

by John O’Donohue

May morning be astir with the harvest of night';

Your mind quickening to the eros of a new question,

Your eyes seduced by some unintended glimpse

That cut right through the surface to a source.

May this be a morning of innocent beginning,

When the gift within you slips clear

Of the sticky web of the personal

With its hurt and its hauntings,

And fixed fortress corners,

A morning when you become a pure vessel

For what wants to ascend from silence,

May your imagination know

The grace of perfect danger,

To reach beyond imitation,

And the wheel of repetition,

Deep into the call of all

The unfinished and unsolved

Until the veil of the unknown yields

And something original begins

To stir toward your senses

And grow stronger in your heart.
